Robert Senske, Jr. was born and raised on the beaches of Southern California and was so naturally talented as a child, that by age 14 he was selling his work consistently enough to pursue it as an avocation. Free-hand drawings (utilizing pen & ink) of real estate listings were his forte until the college years at UC Berkeley (class of '88), where he discovered the joy of painting with acrylics on canvas...
Ironically, Senske left Berkeley with a degree in Political Science and eventually landed a marketing position in the corporate world. However, he never lost his passion for painting and managed to perfect his realistic style during these years. By 1992 Senske's original acrylic paintings, featuring what he called "lifestyle scenes" of the coast, were selling out at local shows. This, combined with a year-long waiting list for privately commissioned work, caused him to take the ultimate "leap of faith"--he quit a secure job to become a full-time artist. This from a guy who never had any formal artistic training...
Within five years Senske had established himself as one of the top maritime artists on the west coast, and almost exclusively through a network of private collectors. Still, he was the youngest artist participating in a show in 1998, when the American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA) honored his work at the Newport Harbor Nautical Museum ("A Brush with the Sea") in Newport Beach, California. His nautically themed painting Logjam! (1993) and spectacular cityscape of San Francisco Bay, entitled Summer in The City (1998), were displayed along side those of (among others) Englishman John Stobart, who some consider the greatest living maritime artist in the world.
In 2003 Senske announced the release of "The Coastal Collection", a series of limited edition Giclee reproductions featuring scenes that reflect contemporary life along the coast. These reproductions are available exclusively through WindsorProductions.com
